In the stock market collapse of 1929 that caused the great depression (among other things), many people were promised wealth. They were promised that "time ain't like they used to be." This time things would be different. This time there wouldn't be a crash. But it did crash and many people lost all their money. Fast forward to any stock market crash and you'll see the same story. "The housing market will never collapse, its different this time." Its the same tired tale again and again of greed. that doesn't care. Greed that just wants more and more.

Maybe some day we'll learn.
