In the London Blitz of World War II, Winston Churchill described the general depression that sat over Britain as being stocked by a black dog. Today that term has become synonymous with having depression.

As someone who has struggled with depression and known people very close to me who have, I wanted to write a song about that. The reality that many people, including myself, did not understand about depression is it doesn't make sense. One day it just hits you. One day you aren't scared to go out to a social event and the next day you are. I tried my best to capture that uncertainty in this song and hope you hear that sincerity.
